Functional outcome of the distal femur fractures using plate osteosynthesis

Background: Distal femoral fractures are a catastrophic event with bimodal distributions. Despite the advances in techniques and improvements surgical implants, treatment of distal still remains challenge many situations. The purpose this study is to evaluate rate union, functional outcome complications these treated by open reduction internal fixation via plate osteosynthesis. Objectives were-1. Whether will give acceptable results femur our setup. 2. To clinical associated modality 3. What potential Methods: This prospective, randomized observational 17 patients, (Muller classification type 33 A, C) who were DFLCP at department orthopaedics, Raja Rajeswari medical college hospital, Bangalore from January 2021 July 2022. sample was patients all included predefined inclusion exclusion criteria study. Minimum 2 months maximum 12 follow up done. radiographic recorded according Neer’s criteria. Results: In study, most age group 61-75 years. 53% cases Muller A 47% C. shortest period longest months, average union time 18 weeks. Most common knee stiffness, infection shortening. there two excellent results, nine good four fair no went for failure. Conclusions: We conclude that using locking plates safe reliable method although careful preoperative planning case selection taking surgery as soon possible important factors which determine final outcome.
